Sonia from the Organic Kids Collection
I am totally in love with the animals in the Rowan Organic Kids collection – I want them all!!
John’s wrist has gone from bad to worse – it is VERY swollen and the swelling is also extending down into his hand and up his arm. I think it is gout – a friend is going to bring some gout tablets over tomorrow. If it is not gout, the tablets won’t do any harm. I wish Monday would hurry up so that he can see the doctor.
We did not go out to eat as he cannot hold a knife ( it is his left wrist and he eats left handed) and so I did roast chicken and diced roast potatoes in shallot butter and peas. Lemon souflle for dessert.
Now remember the drawing for the pack of Debbie Bliss Pure Cashmere takes place tomorrow at midday UK time – I shall put all the names in a hat and Rusty will pull one out – she is sharpening her claws as I write!! There is still time to enter – just go to the forum and post!
I am going to get the ice pack out for John now – I hate it when men are ill or in pain – they revert to children! Back tomorrow!
Rowan Classic Cashcotton DK Khaki
John’s gout is much worse. We tried to get a doctor’s appointment for today but the earliest he can go is on Monday. We are not sure if is gout now. His ankle bone is invisble due to the swelling. He is taking pain killers and sitting with an ice pack on the joint but he has extreme difficult in doing anything – even starting the car ignition make him squawk!
Today has been quiet, just the usual round of duties. I shall be announcing the winner of the pack of Debbie Bliss Pure Cashmere on Sunday – if you haven’t posted in the forum yet, there is still time and, who knows, you might win!
Now I am goinh to watch cricket on TV – it is in Barbados, nearly as good as Jamaica! Back tomorrow!
Rowan Calmer Carnation
Today has been uneventful. I packed and unpacked yarn, placed orders, made a cheese, onion and potato pie, made custard tarts, groomed Rusty, ironed and dusted! My DYmo labelwriter is behaving itself. John has bad gout in his wrist still and will have to go to the doctor if it does not improve. He thinks that too much beef has caused it to flare up, He normally gets it in his toe.
One of our local supermarkets is doing the “Dine in for £10 for two” this weekend and so I shall go and buy several meals. You get a main course and side dish, a pudding and a bottle of wine for £10. Some of the choices this weekend are a whole chicken, chicken breasts with a cheese sauce, haddock with a cheese sauce, beef meatballs, salmon steaks, fish pie and lots more. Then for the side dishes there is a choice of various salads, roast potatoes, sage and onion stuffing or various vegetables. The puddings are fruit tartlets, chocolate souffles, chocolate profiteroles, cappuccino cheesecake, hot fudge tart or a cheeseboard. There are several red and white wines to choose or, for the non drinkers, a litre of fresh orange juice! Can’t be bad for £10.
Now Slip wants to write – she has had a whale of a day!! Back tomorrow.
Rowan Kidsilk Haze Liquer
Today did not start off well. I bought some non Dymo labels to use in my Dymo labelwriter as they were a lot cheaper. I should have known better. A label came away from the backing paper and stuck to the printing roller. I had to take the printer to pieces and try to extract the paper with tweezers. I thought I had got it all out but no! I got a message saying the printer was out of labels.but it would not accept more when I tried to feed them in. I gave up and went shopping. Tried again when I got home – no go! I was about to order a new one when John came back and said he would look at it. He found a tiny piece of paper stuck to the underside of the label sensor. He removed it and it worked!! I am using the proper Dymo labels again – I have learned my lesson!
My Rowan delivery came including Kidsilk Haze in Elegance ( stocks of this are low at Rowan) and Ice Cream, lots of Cashcotton 4 ply and DK and various other discontinued things that I will put in my shop tomorrow.
Slip has written her blog but she omitted to tell you that she has been a bad dog. She buried a bone in the ashes from a bonfire that John had today and came in without wiping her paws – there is a trail of ash around the house! Back tomorrow.
Today has not been very good! We went to Cambridge shopping but John has bad gout in his wrist and it got worse by the time we arrived at the shopping center and it was raining and foggy and so we came back! Tonight I had to cook pancakes – not my favorite dish to make – at least they did not stick but I had to clean the hob and counter afterwards!
The photo is of some shawl pins I shall be stocking in the near future. I am also them in horn and bone.
My hands are hot and itchy tonight – these chilblains seem to last for ever. 4 months today until we go to Jamaica….that’s a third of a year, seems a long time. I have started a new contest…take a look! Back tomorrow.
Rowan Cotton Braid Van Gogh
I had a sort out today and found some Rowan Cotton Braid that was lurking in a box and so I have put it in my shop. Also some Lana Grossa Inca sock yarn. I placed an order with Rowan today and am getting some more Kidsilk Haze Elegance and Ice Cream as it has nearly all gone. Also some more Cashcotton DK and 4 Ply.
Tomorrow we are going to Cambridge ( about 20 miles away ) in the morning as John wants some new tools and I want some boots. I also want to go to the Apple store…….must be good and not be tempted by Macs and iPhone goodies!
I shall be starting a new contest tomorrow. Back then!
Today has been uneventful. I cooked roast beef with roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, cabbage, mashed swede and peas followed by chocolate and vanilla cheesecakes for lunch. I made individual cheesecakes – there is not so much waste that way.
For those of you who have asked, here is a breakdown of my animals and Slip’s friends: I have Slip and Rusty – Rusty is a stray cat who has lived here for over a year. Slip’s friends Ruby ( a black labrador ) and Saffy ( a cocker spaniel) belong to Steve, Alfie ( a scottish terrier ) belongs to Kevin, Monty ( a chocolate labrador ) belongs to Chris, Holly ( a black labrador) belongs to Barry and Purdy ( a cocker spaniel ) belongs to Andy. Slip has not been writing her blog – I will get her back on track tomorrow.
I had another printer jam this morning and John had to use tweezers to extracate the piece of paper that was jammed under one of the rollers. The whole sheet had jammed and when I tried to pull it free, a piece came away and was under the rollers. He eventually got it out and it is working again.
I am expecting two new books from Jenny Watson very soon – one for Noro and one for Aruacania. Now I am going to knit – Veronica will be finished soon! Back tomorrow!
