Figs with parma ham
These are figs wrapped in parma ham with sauteed shallots and stem ginger that I cooked for John’s dinner. His car was not ready for collection and he will get it tomorrow.
There is high security here at the moment as President Obama is landing at Stansted airport which is 2 miles from my house. There are 6 military helicopters whirring above my house as I write and masses of police cars. John’s friend, Steve, is going rabbit shooting and the fields back onto the airport – I hope he won’t be arrested as a terrorist!
Nothing new on the yarn front, my Rowan delivery did not arrive.
I have finished the lower half of Solace and it is VAST! I will do the top half but I think it is going to be way too big for me!! Back tomorrow.
Kits for this coming soon!
John’s new Land Rover is coming tomorrow. I have to take him to collect it – I am not looking forward to this as the garage is in a very busy part of the town and parking is difficult!
I am expecting a large delivery of Rowan Cashcotton tomorrow. More Addi Clicks are on order and several kits from Fleece Artist and Handmaiden.
Tomorrow is your last chance to post in the forumand be entered in the drawing for a pack of Laines du Nord Royal Cashmere. Now I am going to knit some more of Solace and groom Rusty. Back tomorrow.
Veronica in 4 Ply Soft in Tandoori
Darted Shaping on Veronica
Here are 2 photos of Veronica – it was not the easiet garment to photograph as the vent on the back looks untidy on the wrong side but in fact hangs perfectly on the right side. It fits me well – I might make another one in a different color.
We went out fo a meal last night – I had steak and John had lemon sole. Today I cooked slow roasted belly of pork with roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots and peas with a rice pudding to follow. I hate rice pudding but John loves it and eats it with blackcurrant jam!
Tomorrow I am going to look at new cars – I am not at al excited at the thought of a new one but when needs must……….!!
I am expecting Studio 15 this week and also Breeze from Kim Hargreaves.
Slip will be writing tomorrow – she has been a bad dog again!! Back tomorrow
Ballet Wrap from Debbie Bliss Special Knits
It has been very wet here today with hail storms. I went grocery shopping and got soaked.
I have finished Veronica and am going to wear it tonight when we go out for a meal.We are not going for a Chinese but to the pub!
I have made a tweak to my store. When you have added something to your basket you will be returned to the item you were last looking at rather than to the home page. I thought this might make thiings easier if you wanted to buy more than one color of a yarn – do let me know if there are any problems with it.
Now I must go and dry my hair and decide what to wear with Veronica – I think perhaps a navy blue or black top! Back tomorrow.
Today I received the three new shades of Summer Tweed – I especially like Hedgerow! I have finished Veronica apart from the buttons which I shall do tomorrow. I am ploughing on with Solace in Colourscape Chunky. I am not too sure that I like this yarn – it seems to fluff up. I think that I prefer fine yarns to chunky ones – maybe I will change my mind when it is finished.
John bought a new Land Rover today – his current one is three years old and out of warranty and so he thinks it is time for a new one!!
We are going for a Chinese meal tomorrow for a change – I always like the thought of Chinese food but seem to be disappointed when I actually eat it.
Now I am going to have a bath and watch TV and knit! Back tomorrow.
Silk Garden Sock Yarn
The Silk Garden sock yarn came today – 8 shades in total. Also some more copies of Deco by Louisa Harding.
John received a blue tooth in car kit today and we had great fun trying to set it up. When he tried to voice dial a number a Chinese voice asked him to say the name or command and so he said “Dial Barry”. The Chinese voice said “Dial Harry? Yes or No.” John said No and the voice said “Try again” John said ” Dial Barry” again and the voice said “Dial Mary?”. This went on and on and so in the end we decided to try my name – Jann. Chinese voice said ” Dial January?” In the end we said “Yes” to this and it dialed my iphone number correctly. So John will have to say ” Dial January” when he wants to call me!
Veronica is done apart from sewing in a few ends and the buttons – I am not sure whether to go for dark openwork ones or shell ones – I shall offer them up and see.
Now I am going to wash my hair! Back tomorrow
Flowers by Jenny Watson
This is the new book by Jenny Watson for Noro yarns. It is now in stock! I received some more Cashsoft DK in Quartz today and some Rowan Classic Silk Cotton in several shades. Since I only placed this order on Monday of this week, it was pretty fast as it came from the German warehouse.
I have finished Veronica apart from the pocket tops and buttons!
John has finished plastering the house and it looks good – I will take a photo. Rusty was in trouble as she had used his heap of sand as a soft toilet – bullets were found! Now I am going to knit Solace and have a glass of wine. Back tomorrow!
