August 31st

Today is being frustrating.  The company that hosts my shop have carried out updates to how the program works and now I find I cannot update my home page with new items!! So here is what I have added today.

All Noro Silk Garden Lite is now reduced to $7 a ball.  I have put the new Rowan Kidsilk Creation in the store for pre-order. Delivery will be from October 1st. It is going to be in short supply as Rowan are only producing one batch of each shade.

Tomorrow is my birthday. We are going to the Loch Fyne restaurant in Cambridge for a meal.  I am having my hair cut in the morning.

Kevin came round today, back from the US with a camera that will detect motion and take photos in the dark. We have borrowed it and it is tethered to the dog run ready to snap all passing creatures in the night.  I wonder what there will be?  I think there will be foxes, badgers, rabbits and Jackson!

Here comes the postman – I must dash!  Back tomorrow.

August 30th

Firstly. I forgot to say, voting for the best Rowan Slogan ends on Wednesday midnight. The poll is in the post for August 29th.

When I was getting dressed this morning, Jackson came walking by the window carrying a gigantic rabbit – he could hardly walk with it dangling from his mouth.  I could see it was unharmed and so told John to go and rescue it. Jackson growled at John and so John came to get me to help. By the time we got back outside, Jackson was coming in and there was no sign of the rabbit and so it must have escaped. However, it left many fleas on Jackson’s ears and I have been combing them out. He does not mind this, in fact he purrs!

There is another Kidsik yarn coming soon – it is called Kidsilk Creation and will knit in ruffles – a bit like Rico Can Can but more delicate. It is exactly the same as Kidsilk Haze but spun in a different way. There are six shades which are the 6 most popular Kidsilk Haze ones : Cream, Jelly, Trance. Candy Girl, Smoke and Dewberry. One 50g skein will make a ruffled scarf.  The rep is coming to see me next week and I will know more about it then.  I do also know of new Kidsilk Haze shades for next Spring but had better not broadcast details here. Email me if you would like to know about them!

I have installed the Google+1 button on my home page. Apparently  Google is going to use this in their search rankings and so, if you could click on it, I would be very grateful.  It is just above the 5 photos of new products that I update each day,

I am expecting more Knit Pro Symfonie Rose needle sets and also straight Symfonie sets.   Also Cashmere from Rowan along with discontinued Kid Classic.

Now I am going to make a sauce to have with our spaghetti tonight and also make garlic bread.  Back tomorrow.

August 29th

Sorry I did not write yesterday. I was feeling a bit jaded and uninspired.  We went out on Saturday night and both John and I had crab. Yesterday I cooked roast beef with runner beans, fresh peas, butter beans, roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings. Then I stewed some plums which John had with custard. I managed to burn the first batch. I put them on to stew and totally forgot about them. When I went back into the kitchen, it was full of smoke!  Luckily we have so many and so I threw them away and started again.

Now to the contest!  Here are the slogans you can vote for:  Rowan yarns are the best because

A.  Yorkshire yarns in heavenly hues, Perennial problem – which to choose?!”

B.   they never fail to impress

C.   unlike the stock market, it pays to “invest”

D.  their quality is unmatched

E.   they are classic but follow modern trends

I have had a mammoth sort out of sock yarns and made up bargain bags – they are here.  I have lots of balls without ball bands which I shall be putting in the next lot of parcels that I pack as free gifts.

It is a holiday here today.  John is sweeping the chimney – rods and brushes everywhere. We have lots of mushrooms growing in our lawn and I am going to cook some tonight.  I just fancy mushrooms on toast!

Now I am going to sort out some more sock yarn,  Jackson seems better – he is taking more interest in things and not sleeping so much.

August 27th

The Vet did call again late yesterday and she said we would try Jackson on some new tablets before submitting him to any invasive procedures. She has rung my local Vet who will order the tablets and we can collect them on Wednesday.  Jackson has been a bit brighter today and caught one mouse!

We went to Hampshire early this morning. It seemed a long way – past Heathrow airport, Windsor Castle, Ascot racecourse, Jane Austen’s house – 0n and on.  When we eventually got to the churchyard ( without getting lost!) we found the grave was in good order and did not really need attention! So back we came. The traffic was very heavy and it poured with rain and it was not a very enjoyable journey.

We are going to the Three Willows in a moment for something to eat – I think I will have crab this week.

I have put some of the new Knit Pro Shawl Pin sets in my shop – they are very nice. They are light and the colors are attractive.

I am going to get ready to go out now – back tomorrow.

August 26th

Knit Pro Lilac Garnet Shawl Pin Set

Some Shawl Pin sets arrived from Knit Pro today – they are very pretty and I will put them in my shop tomorrow.  I have put the new Kidsilk Haze Stripe in the shop today – it is pre-order for delivery on October 1st.

Not much progress with Jackson.  A vet did ring this morning but I was out shopping!  She left a message saying she would ring again later today and so I am hoping she will.  Jackson stayed in all night and has slept most of today. He did eat his breakfast but oh so slowly.

Tomorrow we are going to visit John’s Mother’s grave which is in Hampshire – about a two-hour drive.  We shall leave early and hope there won’t be too much traffic.

Now for the contest!  Prize is a ball of Debbie Bliss Party Angel – I cannot say what colour as I will have to take whatever Designer Yarns have.  I thought we would have a slightly different sort of question.  I want you to complete this slogan in 10 or fewer words: Rowan yarns are the best because………

When I have all the answers I will put them here in a poll and everyone can vote for the one they like best.  I shall be able to see who votes for what and so there is no chance of anyone voting for their own over and over again!!  Winner is whoever gets the most votes.  Send your slogan to slogan@jannettesrareyarns.co.uk by midnight Sunday.

Now I am going to iron, I have bought a new leopard skin ironing board cover and it looks just like Jackson!  Back tomorrow,

August 25th Update

Noro Kama

Noro Kama #08

Well, I am no further forward. I rang the Cambridge Veterinary Hospital at 9.0am. The receptionist said that Joel, the Vet who treated Jackson previously, no longer worked in Small Animals and has moved to Equine and Large Animals.  She said she would get another Vet to call me but nothing yet and I can’t ring again as the switchboard closes at 5.30 and it is now 6.30!  Jackson slept most of the day but has just gone out and returned with a vole. It was unharmed and we rescued it and set it free.  He is eating but so slowly – 20 minutes or more to eat a dessert spoonful of biscuits. If no one calls me, I shall have to ring again in the morning.  I have known them call up to 8.0 pm and so have not given up hope yet.

I have put the Noro Kama in my store – the colours are lovely. It is expensive but really does feel soft and silky – a scarf would be nice knitted in it and it would not cost the earth.

My cold is still raging and now John has caught it.  We need a holiday!!   I honestly do not feel up to starting another contest today but promise I will do it tomorrow!

August 25th

Sorry I did not write yesterday.  It was a disaster day!  John had an accident in his Land Rover.  The car in front of him stopped suddenly  because another car had jumped the traffic lights and John ran into the back of the car that had stopped. John only suffered a broken number plate and the other car had a broken light and damaged bumper.  So a great part of the day was spent talking to insurance companies and ordering a new front number plate for John.

Jackson is not at all well, he is listless and will not come out of his pen.  I am going to ring Cambridge University hospital as soon as they open at 9.0am.  Maybe he needs ballooning.

I received the Noro Kama yesterday and am going to photograph it and put it in my shop today. I also received Nerissa and Three Graces which are two of Louisa Harding’s new books.

I will be back later with the new contest – I just can’t seem to think of a question at the moment as I am worrying about Jackson.
