Craft from Kim Hargreave's Scarlet

Craft from Kim Hargreave's Scarlet

Scarlet arrived today. There are some gorgeous designs. I like this one – it is knitted in FIne Lace.

Sorry I did not write yesterday.  We went out on Saturday night and, as I had anticipated, the pub was full with the shooting party and we could not have a table until they left. Since they showed no sign of leaving we had a bottle of wine and then went to the Indian restaurant.  That was heaving too, but we got a table fairly quickly. I had a prawn and rice biryani and John had a chicken curry – it was OK but nothing special.

We have a contest winner – Susan Busatto. She found all of the languages! They are Dutch, Urdu, Mandarin, Yiddish, Swedish, Hindi, Russian, Thai, Yoruba,Yi and Gaelic.  Well done!  Let me know what color of Grace Hand Beaded you would like and I will send it right out.  I will start a new contest on Wednesday.

Nothing much else to report.  I have started to knit the Kidsilk Haze Stripe scarf and I rather think that Jackson attacked it during the night as the yarn seems to be very fluffed up!  He normally takes no notice of any balls but maybe the mohair attracted him.  I have removed it to the safety of the bedroom.

Going to iron now!  Back tomorrow

Rowan Studio 25

Jingle Scarf from Rowan Studio #25

John and Slip are out shooting and Jackson and I are having a quiet day together. I went to the hairdresser, did some grocery shopping and bought a new dress. It is knitted in grey and blue stripes with cables on the front.  It is above the knee and so I shall wear leggings under it.

We are going out to eat tonight  to the Three Horseshoes. The son of the man who has the Three Willows has bought the Three Horseshoes and it opened last Monday. It is the nearest pub to our house. At least, I say we are going to eat there – there is a shooting dinner for another shoot and it maybe that there will not be room for other diners as it is quite small inside.  If we can’t get a table, we can go to the Indian which is on the way home.

Last night I thought Jackson was out when we went to bed and so I left the bedroom door ajar. My iMac is in the next room and the light from the screensaver is useful if we want to go to the bathroom.  I shut it if Jackson is in as he might wander through.  I woke up at 5.0am and felt something against the small of my back.  It was Jackson, he must have crept through and wriggled under the duvet.  I quickly carried him out before John woke up!  Jackson must have been hiding somewhere when we came to bed.

I am going to clean my oven now – no cooking to do today! Back tomorrow.

Phoebe from Rowan Studio #25

Phoebe from Rowan Studio #25

Today has been one of those days. Firstly the Dymo printer threw a wobbly and became jammed with a label firmly stuck inside and so I had to wait for John’s assistance! Then I microwaved a trout for Slip in a supposedly sealed bag and it burst open and I had trout all over the inside of the microwave.  Then the Royal Mail site would not load on my iMac and so I had to upload my posting details from my iPad and then access the Royal Mail site from my MacBook and find the order and send it to the printer! It is done now but I certainly hope the Royal Mail have finished their updates by Monday.

Studio #25 should come next week and also Kim Hargreaves’ Scarlet.   Also a new book from Martin Storey.

John and Slip are shooting tomorrow. I shall go and have my hair washed and dried, do grocery shopping and maybe buy a new dress as we have been invited to a party next Saturday at Steve and Lynns.  It is bonfire night and they are having a barbecue  with fireworks.

I have finished my ruffle scarf and I like it – it looks pretty!  I am putting off picking up my Alice Starmore Alba jacket – it has been languishing in my knitting bag for 2 – 3 months!  I could do with some more socks and also gloves – yes, I think that is the route to take!

Going to give Jackson a brush now – he loves being groomed and purrs the whole time!  Back tomorrow.

October 27th

Jackson stayed  out all night last night  – I could hear him calling at 6.0am outside the patio door but I did not get up and let him in!  Eventually he gave up and I heard him going away, grumbling!!  He came back again at 8.0am and had breakfast and has been asleep ever since.

John has gone trout fishing with Kevin and I am looking after Slip. It has been raining off and on all day, so not ideal for dog walking. It is cold too – I am going to get the fire going in a moment. I dread the thought of winter and the chilblains.  I wish I could go into hibernation until Spring.

Now to the contest – the answer was Rowan 33 and everyone was correct.  We will have a Wordsearch next – find 11 languages please!  Answers to languages@jannettesrareyarns.co.uk by midnight Sunday.

October 26th

All is well!  Just as I was getting into bed last night Jackson came back.  I could hear him crying at the patio door and so I let him in.  He seemed n worse for wear and made a bee line for his food bowl.  I went to bed and this morning he is in his hammock fast asleep and so no harm done!  I will write more later!

October 25th

Sorry to be late writing. Jackson is missing. Last time he was seen was six hours ago. John saw him in the front garden hunting. He always appears at 10 pm for his cheese and he has not come in.
It is cold and he normally only pops out for a few minutes. John will take Slip for a walk and look for him.
I am most probably panicking unnecessarily. I will report back tomorrow
